Janet Longmore is a Founder, President and CEO at Digital Opportunity Trust based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, North America. Janet Longmore is the founder and CEO of Digital Opportunity Trust (DOT), a global network of young women and men who are invested in their communities as leaders of change and social innovators. A passionate believer in the power and potential of youth –and young women in particular– as catalysts for positive global change, Janet works tirelessly to promote the meaningful engagement of youth social entrepreneurs as community leaders and changemakers. Janet is the Canadian government’s appointee to the Business Leaders Caucus of the Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation. As a member of the Business Leaders Caucus, Janet contributes expertise on collaboration and cooperation between the private sector, governments, and civil society in service of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals through the adoption of the Kampala Principles. Janet is a co-founder of Catalyst 2030, a global movement of social change innovators who are collaborating to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. Through Catalyst 2030 she shares insights on how social entrepreneurs and youth can be engaged in front-line COVID-19 response and community resilience efforts. Janet sat on the steering committee for the World Economic Forum’s Internet for All initiative, through which she shared insights on how young people can be champions of digital inclusion, driving social and economic change in emerging economies. She subsequently spearheaded the Digital Ambassadors Program, launched in Rwanda, as a flagship initiative of Internet for All. In 2016, Janet was decorated with a Meritorious Service Cross by the Governor-General of Canada in recognition of her strong example of social innovation and leadership that brings considerable honour to Canada. Janet is a Schwab Foundation Social Entrepreneur, a Senior Ashoka Fellow, and sits on ITU’s EQUALS Global Partnership steering committee. From 2014-2016 she was an active member on the WEF Global Agenda Council on Emerging Multinationals. Janet is a recipient of the CATA Alliance Sara Kirke Award for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (2011), and has been recognized as a Trailblazer and Trendsetter by the Women’s Executive Network Top 100 Most Powerful Women in Canada (2012).
