Scott Lawrence is a Owner, CEO, COO at Bold Print Design Studio based in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, United States, North America. Straight out of college I started working for non-profit environmental organizations in Washington DC. First with short internships at The Nature Conservancy and American Oceans Campaign and then a longer stint at Environmental Defense Fund where I was the Programs Assistant for three high profile environmental programs, climate change, environmental health, and stream/wetland protection and restoration. My time was split between all three programs which taught me valuable time management skills along with other skills such as communication, research, organizational office, administrative, and event planning. I had a great time working at Environmental Defense Fund and had a deep passion for the issues we worked on and what we were able to achieve. However at the same time, my wife was venturing out on her own as a freelance graphic designer and about a year in we decided I would join her and run the business side so that she could focus on completing the projects. We started out as Visual Communications, outside of Washington DC, but soon moved to the Outer Banks of North Carolina and changed our brand to Bold Print Design Studio. We knew at the time that if we wanted to make it in this next generation of marketing we would need to provide websites and web marketing services. We started building simple websites first and over the years expanded into offering fully functional sites with ecommerce, content management, real estate MLS, and learning management websites. We also expanded our offerings within the website industry by offering website hosting, email marketing, pay per click ad campaigns, and social media setup. My role at Bold Print Design is mainly project management and business operations. I am the liaison between the client and our internal team. We use a project management system call Active Collab that allows us to manage all of our projects, communicate with our team, share files and assign tasks. As a small business owner for over 20 years I have worn many hats and gained a lot of experience and skills. I also had the unique opportunity to see the inner workings of 100s of other small to medium businesses as we helped them launch their new venture, or was a part of their rebrand and marketing efforts. I watched businesses succeed and I watched businesses fail which has given me a lot of knowledge and insight into what works and what doesn't.
