Pierluigi Mantovani is a Co-Founder and CEO at Evolution Devices Inc. based in San Francisco Bay Area, United States, North America. I am the co-founder and CEO of Evolution Devices, a company on a mission to unlock human movement. We are building technology to assist and augment the human body, focused initially on restoring movement for people living with mobility impairments. My passion for neurotechnology and augmenting the human body stems from my personal experience and education. My father has a mobility impairment due to Multiple Sclerosis, and I have seen the promise of electrical stimulation to help him and others like him. I also have a BA in Cognitive Science from UC Berkeley, where I learned about the brain and its functions. I further pursued this interest as a neuroscience researcher at UCSF, where I helped develop real-time stimulation devices for language learning and depression treatment. At Evolution Devices, we are creating our flagship product, the EVOWALK, which is currently pending FDA Clearance, with an expected launch in early 2024. The EVOWALK is a smart wearable device that stimulates the muscles of the lower leg to improve walking for people with foot drop, a common symptom of many neurological conditions. We have been awarded multiple grants and awards from the National Science Foundation, Toyota, and Verizon, among others, which recognize our game-changing technology that improves the mobility and independence of people with lower-limb paralysis. I imagine a world where people could improve how they walk, run, or even play the piano quicker and better by enhancing the motor functions of the human body. I am determined to create a future where movement can be enhanced and augmented for everyone.
