Manali Shah is a Home Health OT at Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic based in Greater Philadelphia, United States, North America. I began practicing occupational therapy in 2004 at the hospital I completed my Level II fieldwork. Since then I've practiced OT in 7 states, 12 cities and 17 facilities, including a Level 1 trauma center, acute rehabilitation centers, skilled nursing facilities and with rehabilitation companies. I have experience in acute care, acute rehabilitation (neurology and orthopaedics), skilled nursing, long-term care, outpatient orthopaedics, neurology and hand therapy. The last three years I focused my energy into outpatient orthopaedics, specifically rehabilitation of the upper extremity. I've been privileged to work with Dr. Eric Stuffman, M.D. hand surgeon in the Bay Area of California. I've rehabilitated clients with the following diagnoses: reverse total shoulder, rotator cuff repair, carpal tunnel, distal radius fracture, flexor tendon repair, extensor tendon repair, amputation and TFCC repair. On the acute care end I have experience in ICU care, orthopaedics, neurology/neurosurgery, cardic care and cardiothoracic surgery. I utilize modalities such as ultrasound, electric stimulation and paraffin bath to assist in management of hand rehabilitation. Along with traditional methods of rehabilitation, I provide holistic treatment and educate clients on the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle with diet and exercise as they recover through their injury. I am seeking a position in outpatient hand therapy or acute care or a combination of both as I enjoy both areas and am well-qualified.
