Leona Agouridis is a President and CEO at Golden Triangle Business Improvement District based in Washington, District Of Columbia, United States, North America. I believe people, places, and experiences make a city thrive. As the Executive Director of the Golden Triangle Business Improvement District (BID) since 2006, I oversee BID operations for the 44 square block area of the central business district that connects the White House to Dupont Circle. I also chair the DC BID Council, an association that fosters collaboration among the District’s eleven BIDs to make the city and our nation’s capital an amazing place to live, work and visit. Additionally, I serve on the Board of the International Downtown Association (IDA). Cities throughout the world are facing extraordinary challenges as the result of COVID. Every day I leverage my leadership and management experience to ensure that Washington DC’s Golden Triangle area continues to shine brightly. My former roles as Registrar of Voters for the District of Columbia, Media Relations Director of Metro, and Assistant General Manager for Communications and Customer Service at Metro have prepared me with the knowledge, experience, and resilience, necessary to navigate the complexities of DC’s central business district post-COVID. My colleagues and I at the Golden Triangle have built award winning emergency preparedness, placemaking and sustainability initiatives. The BID is consistently recognized for the creative ways we utilize our DC streets as a palette for innovative and considerable community improvements. I am proud to be leading an organization that continually envisions, develops, and manages initiatives that improve the economic vitality of the Golden Triangle and the entire District of Columbia. Our unique role bringing together private businesses with government enables us to strengthen communities in ways that neither sector can accomplish alone.
