Kir Kahlon is a Founder and Chief Investment Officer at Scorpion Capital LLC based in United States, North America. I founded and serve as Chief Investment Officer of Scorpion Capital, which focuses on activist short selling. I've spent most of my time on the short side since 2013, mostly frauds and promotes. Most recently, I worked at Seligman Investments, which manages roughly $14 billion across a hedge fund and two long-only vehicles. I was responsible for healthcare, mostly biotech, pharma, and medtech/device shorts. I opportunistically looked at public companies in any industry and geography, especially Asia, having historically been a technology investor and generalist. Prior to Seligman, I worked with Tiger Global, where I focused exclusively on deep-dive, investigative shorts. I began my career in management consulting after college, at Bain & Co. After business school, I spent six years in Silicon Valley, mostly as founder/CEO of an enterprise software company where I raised $15 million of venture capital. In 2004 I re-focused on the investing path and moved to New York to work for Carl Icahn. Working on a small team reporting to Carl provided an opportunity to learn from one of the greatest investors of all time. I worked on distressed and activist situations, including serving as interim COO of a $500 million revenue company post-bankruptcy. I continued focusing on distressed credit after Icahn and shifted to long/short equity in 2009 by joining Steadfast, a large “Tiger cub,” I’ve been a long/short investor ever since (more shorts than longs) and it’s the style of investing I enjoy most.
