Kesang Tashi is a CEO/ Social Entrepreneur at Innerasia/Khawachen based in Hanover, New Hampshire, United States, North America. InnerAsia's founder, Kesang Tashi was born in the Gyalthang ( officially renamed Shangrila ) bordering Eastern Tibet and Yunnan province , China . He has spent 3 decades dedicated to preserving and promoting the arts and crafts of Tibet. Tashi comes from a family of Khampa merchants who were influential on the fabled Horse Caravan Tea Trade Route that connected Tibet , China and India. Tashi brings the legacy of Tibetan social entrepreneurs or "Jindhas " in mentoring new generations of Tibetan entrepreneurs and artisans in his homeland . He is the first Tibetan graduate of Dartmouth College and divides his time between the US and the Tibetan highlands . He is a recognized authority on all aspect of Tibetan Rugs , from design to production . He co-authored the authoritative book on Tibetan rugs: " Of Wool and Loom; The Tradition of Tibetan Rugs", published by Orchid Press. Tashi is currently working on a book about the three generations of his family's struggle to survived a century of social and political upheavals and endless political persecution. The book is the story of his family's "kiduk" or the experience of joy and sorrow and reconciliation , aptly titled : A Bridge to Shangri-La.
