Kenan S. is a President and Founder at CAMX Power, LLC based in Greater Boston, United States, North America. Dr. Kenan E. Sahin is the Founder and President of CAMX Power and the Founder and Chairman of TIAX both located in Lexington, Massachusetts. Kenan is an academic, scientist, inventor, technologist, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. His BS and PhD are from MIT. He taught at MIT, Harvard, UMass Amherst, and Robert College of Istanbul. At MIT, he received the Nicolas Salgo Distinguished Teacher Award. His doctoral work led to fundamental patents in computer communication networks. Kenan began his entrepreneurial career when in 1982 he founded Kenan Systems with his personal funds to test his academic teachings, learnings and hypotheses in industry. He eventually grew Kenan Systems to 1,000 staff globally. Board members included Howard Johnson and Jerome Wiesner, both former MIT Presidents. As the sole shareholder, he sold Kenan Systems to Lucent/Bell Labs (1999) becoming a Bell Labs VP of Technology and a group president of Lucent Communications Software. Using his dual role, he established the Joint Development and Delivery Center in Murray Hill, with staff from Bell Labs and from Kenan Systems which had become a subsidiary of Lucent. The Center transformed many innovative software systems of Bell Labs into product offerings for the telecommunications industry with The Arbor/BP Telecommunications platform developed at Kenan Systems as a framework. This platform, based on early forms of AI and Big Data, later renamed Kenan/BP by Lucent, now serves over one billion telecom subscribers globally. After leaving Lucent/Bell Labs, Kenan founded TIAX which purchased the lab-based Technology and Innovation (T&I) unit of the fabled Arthur D. Little, Inc. (ADL) established by Mr. Little in 1886. ADL ceased operations after 116 years, with its various divisions sold, one unit being T&I, the “classical” ADL. Dr. Sahin transformed the TIAX/T&I combination to mature select early-stage technologies in energy, chemistry, materials, and functional wearables to be IP-protected, de-risked, and production-ready for its industry partners to make and sell. In 2014, he spun out certain electromechanical and electrochemistry technologies in a separate company, CAMX Power. As he does in TIAX, at CAMX Power Kenan is actively involved in technology selection and development as well as their marketing. He has published a book describing the Kenan Systems journey as a case study on lean startups (Lean Startup to Lean Company to Rich Exit, Forbes, March 2024 and a companion guidebook for startups also through Forbes, November 2024).
