Kathryn Thiele AIA CSI is a Founder & CEO at Buildstock Inc based in New York, New York, United States, North America. After a 10 years career as an architect and project manager in the construction industry building high rise development projects; I founded a construction tech company called Buildstock. My areas of focus & onwership are across Product, Materials, Sales, Customer Success, Culture & Strategy. Throughout the last decade of working as a licensed architect, across 20 projects, 8 of which were build with a cost of $100-200Million each; I gained significant skills & understanding of our industry & it's customers. With on site experience caross so many projects; comes an understanding of day to day business & the issues tied to procurement of materials, pricing discovery, supplier access, materials quality, delivery & its impact to a construction project. Throughout this time & projects I earned & grew a large trusted network & relationship with General Contractors, Sub Contractors, Distributors & Manufacturers. In early 2022, I started Buildstock to leverage technology & solve some meaningful issues in the construction develpment that create 75% delays & over budgetsl in a $1.4 Trillion $ industry. Buildstock is digital procurement marketplace & Fintech company; for developers & suppliers of construction materials. We focus on creating transparency & access to materials. Improved purchasing timelines. Digitizing the process. Gowing Supplier revenues & improving their cashflows with better payment terms. I[m passionate & commited to our industry, both Architecture & Construction. I've been very active in leading & contributing to numerous community services efforts, including leading annual Service Days, developing the Torch Mentorship Program (5 panels per year and 1-on-1 pairing), creating Scholarships, planning a 3 part Career Fair series (panel, mock interviews, CV/portfolio review), arranging City of Dreams Competition, hosting Founders Forums (5 events per year), organizing bi-annual tech in construction conferences (FutureNOW), and hosting numerous networking events. I teach at Cornell University as a certified instructor for the Architect Licensing Community. I also teach at AIA-NY Center for Architecture and Boston Architectural Foundation. I was honored to be inducted into the Beverly Willis Architecture Foundations Emerging Leaders Program.
