Jay Tansey is a Strategy & Operations, IDEXX Veterinary Software at IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. based in Portland, Maine, United States, North America. I’m an experienced technology executive and general manager with a deep background in business development and partnerships, corporate development and venture capital, and public policy and government affairs. A trusted partner and advisor to senior leaders, my areas of expertise range from negotiations and competitive strategy to cross-functional program management, communications, and M&A. I excel in fast-paced environments and enjoy working in teams to initiate and manage high-impact projects. Most importantly, I’m a principled leader committed to fostering inclusive cultures, collaborating with diverse, high-performing teams, and supporting underserved communities. I’m genuinely curious and actively pursue opportunities to help people and organizations grow and achieve great results. I’ve spent my career advising senior executives and innovative entrepreneurs across sectors and around the world. As Executive Director at Covetrus (NASDAQ: CVET), I worked directly with the co-founders and board of directors to lead various corporate development, communications, and governance initiatives for a $4B global animal health care technology company, which we took public in 2019. I also served as Executive Director at Black Point Group, the private investment partnership between CVET's co-founders. In this capacity, I oversaw a wide range of investment, business, and philanthropic activities, including successfully launching and selling a medical device startup. Prior to these roles, I worked in venture capital, marketing, and public service. Most recently, I focused on late-stage technology investing at North Atlantic Capital and developed the digital strategy for Pepsi’s 2016 #PepsiMoji campaign. I previously served as a Presidential Appointee and policy advisor at the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and as special assistant in the U.S. House of Representatives. Before entering politics, I worked as an advocate for minority- and women-owned companies and as a higher education research consultant. I earned my MBA from the Yale School of Management and AB in Government & Legal Studies and Spanish from Bowdoin College, where I minored in Theater and played varsity football. A native New Englander, I’m an avid Boston sports fan and an active member of the greater Portland community. I’m a proud husband and father, and love spending time on the water and going on adventures with my family - whether across the street or around the world.
