A British-American national, James has over 20 years of experience as a design industry leader working with the world’s biggest and most successful brands, including Pepsico, PwC, Kayak, Triumph Motorcycles, and Microsoft. He also has extensive experience working with family offices. Having worked with the most prominent agencies in NY and London, including Wolff Olins Omnicom, WPP Landor, and Futurebrand IPG, James was also among an early team of brand directors brought in by Saudi Arabia to lay the foundation of the petrostate’s global investment push. After more than a decade of shuttling between NY and London, in 2014, James founded his own agency. Based out of NY and Miami, Studio Sanderson focuses on real estate and the intersection of design, architecture, brand, and technology demanded by consumers to respond to the need for better, multifunctional work and living environments that have exploded since the COVID-19 pandemic. He also gathers new thinking on the trend through his podcast “Brave New Real Estate,” where he has interviewed other founders, including those behind the UK’s breakout online real estate design success, The Modern House, and others. James also founded the Miami and NY-based community group Brick and Wonder, a forum for sharing grassroots design experiences to promote more sustainable solutions. James started in design in 1990s Manchester and trained at London’s Camberwell School of Design. Today, His passions still include the art of Manchester’s 1990s rave scene, open water swimming, and immersing himself in Spanish language and culture with his American-Venezuelan wife and children.
