Greg Hough is a Founder at Fermented Beverage based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States, North America. There are few events in life that, in the moment, one knows that their lives will forever change. After graduating from Duquesne University, I was given the opportunity to travel to Finland and play American football for the Tampere, Saints. During this experience, I was able meet some of the most amazing people, immerse myself in Finland’s unique culture, enjoy breathtaking landscapes, and most importantly develop communication and leadership skills that reach across language and cultural barriers. My first sip of Hartwall Original Long Drink was a memorable one, it was Midsummer, I was bucketing water out of a well to use for the sauna, and the sun hasn’t set since I arrived. My teammate rewarded my quick gathering a water by offering me a Lonkero. I never heard of the beverage, but I was in Finland to drown myself in the culture, so I gave it a try. Ten years later, I started Fermented Beverage, LLC, the first wholesaler to offer Finland’s iconic 70 year old beverage in the U.S. Bootstrapping businesses is what I have done my entire professional career. I work hard, and reward hard work. I never stop learning. I take responsibility for my actions and hold other's responsible for their's. I give credit, when credit is due. There have been plenty of obstacles that my businesses have faced throughout the business cycle, but I've always perceived obstacles as a new business opportunity or a chance to reevaluate the current business plan.
