We Tried 7 UserGems Alternatives & Competitors for 30 Days: Here’s Our Insights

Thinking about UserGems competitors? We were, too.

We needed a tool that could track job changes, surface warm leads, and trigger outreach, without the high price or being locked into one platform.

So we tested 7 real UserGems competitors over 30 days, including Champify, Clay, ZoomInfo, and Leadsforge.

Some did the job well. Some didn’t.

And a few offered more than we expected.

In this blog, you’ll get:

  • What each tool does

  • What worked and what didn’t

  • Who each one is best for

  • And which tool I’d pick today

If you’re comparing options, this will save you hours of trial and error. Let’s jump in.

What Is UserGems?

UserGems homepage
This image shows the UserGems homepage

UserGems is a sales tool that tracks job changes.

It tells you when someone in your network, like a past customer, prospect, or champion, moves to a new company.

That way, your team can reach out at the perfect time, without starting cold.

It’s great for reviving old conversations, activating warm leads, and filling pipelines from contacts you already know.

Many sales teams use it to stay ahead of buying signals and drive more outbound opportunities.

Why We Looked Beyond UserGems

We used UserGems for a while and saw real value.

But over time, a few things started to feel limiting:

  • The cost adds up quickly, especially as your team grows
UserGems G2 review

  • Most features work best if you’re using Salesforce
UserGems G2 review

  • Custom workflows and integrations felt restricted

We needed something more flexible that didn’t force us into one CRM or process.

So we tested 7 other tools that promised the same job-change tracking, but with better automation, lower cost, or easier setup.

And here’s everything we found.

Setup: How We Tested 7 UserGems Competitors in 30 Days

Let me walk you through exactly how we ran our 30-day test.

We didn’t just sign up and click around, we used each tool inside our real outbound process to see what actually worked.

Our Setup at a Glance

Who We Are: We’re a small outbound sales team, 3 people managing everything from prospecting to pipeline.

No RevOps, no fancy setups. Just live campaigns and tight bandwidth.

What We Needed: We were using UserGems, but it started feeling restrictive. We needed something that could:

  • Track job changes fast

  • Trigger outreach automatically

  • Work cleanly with our CRM (HubSpot)

  • And it doesn't cost a fortune

Tools We Picked: We narrowed it down to 7 tools people kept mentioning in communities and calls: Leadsforge, Champify, Clay, Cognism, ZoomInfo, LeadIQ, and 6sense.

How We Set Up the Tests

  • Plugged each tool into our actual workflow (no sandbox tests)

  • Connected to our HubSpot CRM

  • Uploaded a batch of contacts from older deals and customer lists

  • Set up job change alerts where possible

  • Built basic workflows to see if leads could be auto-tagged, sequenced, or enriched

We didn’t use test data or fake leads, we used our actual sales process to see which tools saved time and which ones slowed us down.

What We Measured

Here’s what we tracked across all 7 tools:

  • Job change detection speed — How fast did alerts come in?

  • Actionability — Could we trigger steps like emails or tasks without manual work?

  • CRM sync quality — Any broken fields, data mismatches, or missed records?

  • Pricing — Did the value match what we actually got?

Our goal was simple: Find the tool that tracks job changes and helps us act on them, fast, clean, and without overpaying.

TL;DR: Our Take After 30 Days

Tool Best For Strength Weak Spot Pricing
Leadsforge Startups & lean teams Built-in outreach Fewer integrations Custom
Champify Salesforce CS/sales users Native Salesforce support No non-SFDC support Custom
Clay Workflow-heavy SDR teams No-code control Steep learning curve $149/mo
Cognism GDPR-conscious teams Phone + compliance Price for small teams Custom
ZoomInfo Enterprise sales ops Deep firmographics Expensive & heavy Custom
LeadIQ Individual SDRs Chrome + CRM sync Basic automation $36/mo
6sense RevOps & ABM teams Multi-signal intent data Complex, overkill Custom

1. Leadsforge

Leadsforge homepage
This image shows the Leadsforge homepage

Leadsforge is a tool built for small sales teams. It tracks job changes, enriches your leads, and can automatically start outreach, all in one place.

Unlike most tools, you don’t need to connect three platforms just to follow up with a lead.

✅ What Worked:

  • Job change alerts came in fast, sometimes within hours.

  • We could automatically send emails or create CRM tasks when someone changed jobs.

  • Easy to set up, took us about 20 minutes to get started, no Zapier or dev help needed.

⚠️ What Didn’t:

  • It has fewer integrations than larger tools, supporting key platforms like HubSpot and Gmail, but doesn’t cover as many platforms as ZoomInfo or Clay.

  • Some features are still growing, so there’s room for more.

Leadsforge Best For:

  • Startups,
  • Solo SDRs, or
  • Small teams that want to move fast and don’t want to waste time building complex workflows.

Leadsforge vs UserGems:

Feature Leadsforge UserGems
Job Change Alerts Fast and real-time Daily batch syncs
CRM Support HubSpot, Salesforce, Gmail Mostly Salesforce
Outreach Setup Built-in triggers + email steps Needs Zapier or external setup
Setup Time Quick and simple Medium (team setup required)
Best For Startups & lean sales teams Mid-size Salesforce-based teams

Leadsforge Pricing:

Leadsforge doesn’t list pricing publicly. Since it’s still in early access, the pricing depends on your setup and needs.

You’ll need to request access or talk to their team to get full details.

Bottom line: If you want something simple that gets the job done without extra tools, Leadsforge is a great pick.

It may not have every feature yet, but it gives you fast signals and lets you act on them without the usual setup mess.

2. Champify

Champify homepage
This image shows the Champify homepage

Champify is a tool that works inside Salesforce.

It tells you when someone who used your product before, like a past customer or champion, gets a new job at a different company.

That way, your team can reach out right when it matters.

✅ What Worked:

  • Job change alerts showed up fast, and they were spot on.

  • Everything runs inside Salesforce, so reps didn’t have to switch tools.

  • It was super helpful for customer success, too, we could see when users left our current accounts or joined new ones.

⚠️ What Didn’t:

  • It only works with Salesforce. If you’re using something else like HubSpot, this tool won’t work for you.

  • No built-in outreach. You still need something like Outreach or Salesloft to send messages.

Clampify Best For:

Teams that already use Salesforce and want to win back past users or watch for changes in their current accounts.

Champify vs UserGems:

Feature Champify UserGems
Focus Past customers & users Wider contact tracking
CRM Support Salesforce only Mostly Salesforce (limited outside)
Outreach Setup Needs workflows or Outreach/Salesloft Needs Zapier or extra setup
CS & Expansion Use Strong use case Not the main focus
Setup Time Quick (if you're in Salesforce) Medium (onboarding required)

Clampify Pricing:

You’ll need to talk to their sales team. It’s not cheap, similar to or more than UserGems, depending on your team size.

Bottom Line: If your team already runs on Salesforce and you care about re-engaging past users or tracking customer changes, Champify is a strong option.

But if you're using another CRM or need built-in outreach, it’s probably not the right fit.

3. Clay

Clay homepage
This image shows the Clay homepage

Clay is a sales automation tool that lets you build your own workflows to track job changes, enrich leads, and start outreach, all in one place.

It’s often used as a flexible alternative to tools like UserGems, especially by teams that want more control and aren’t tied to Salesforce.

✅ What Worked:

  • We could track job changes our way. We built a custom workflow to find job switches on LinkedIn, enrich the leads, and send alerts to Slack.

  • It gave us more data than most tools. We got emails, phone numbers, job titles, and company info, all pulled from different sources.

  • It worked well with HubSpot and Gmail, which was great since we don’t use Salesforce.

⚠️ What Didn’t:

  • It takes time to learn. Setting up a workflow isn’t instant; if you’re not familiar with no-code tools, it can be overwhelming at first.

  • Credit-based pricing. Each lookup or action costs credits, so you need to manage usage carefully, or it can get expensive fast.

Clay Best For:

Teams that want full control and are comfortable building custom workflows.

Clay is ideal if you're not using Salesforce and want more flexibility than UserGems offers.

Clay vs UserGems:

Feature Clay UserGems
Job Change Tracking Fully customizable (via LinkedIn, APIs) Pre-built, limited control
Outreach Triggers Built-in via Gmail + integrations Requires Zapier or Salesloft setup
CRM Support Works with HubSpot, Salesforce, Gmail Best with Salesforce
Data Enrichment Pulls from 50+ sources Mostly LinkedIn + CRM-based
Setup & Learning Takes effort to learn Easier onboarding, less flexible

Clay Pricing:

Clay pricing
This image shows the Clay pricing

Clay starts at $149/month and uses a credit system; the more data you use, the more credits you’ll need. It’s flexible, but not cheap if you scale fast.

Bottom line: If UserGems feels too rigid or limited, Clay gives you freedom to build exactly what you need.

But it also comes with more complexity, great for technical teams, not ideal if you want plug-and-play.

4. Cognism

Cognism homepage
This image shows the Cognism homepage

Cognism is a sales tool that helps you find leads, track job changes, and get verified contact details like phone numbers and emails.

It’s known for its strong data coverage, especially in Europe, and follows strict data privacy rules like GDPR.

✅ What Worked:

  • Job change tracking worked well, we got alerts when people on our list moved to new companies.

  • Contact data was high quality, mobile numbers were often phone-verified, and email accuracy was solid.

  • Easy CRM sync, we connected it to HubSpot, and the lead info updated smoothly.

⚠️ What Didn’t:

  • The platform felt heavy at first. There are a lot of features, so it took time to get used to.

  • No public pricing. You have to talk to their sales team to get a quote.

Cognism Best For:

B2B teams that care about data accuracy and work in Europe or need GDPR-compliant data.

Also, a good pick if you want strong mobile phone coverage for outbound calls.

Cognism vs UserGems:

Feature Cognism UserGems
Job Change Tracking Yes Yes
Contact Accuracy Verified emails + phone numbers Based mostly on CRM + LinkedIn
CRM Support HubSpot, Salesforce, others Mostly Salesforce
Data Compliance Strong (GDPR, CCPA) Basic (varies)
Outreach Support Needs external tools Needs external tools

Cognism Pricing:

Cognism doesn’t list prices publicly. You’ll need to contact their sales team for a custom quote.

Bottom line: Cognism is great if you want clean, compliant data and solid job change alerts, but it’s more of a full data platform than a plug-and-play outreach tool.

It’s better suited for teams with bigger outbound needs or who sell in regulated markets.

5. ZoomInfo

ZoomInfo homepage
This image shows the ZoomInfo homepage

ZoomInfo is a large sales intelligence platform that gives you data on companies, contacts, job changes, buying intent, and more.

Compared to UserGems, ZoomInfo tries to be an all-in-one B2B data platform, but that also makes it more complex and expensive.

✅ What Worked:

  • We got tons of data. From job changes to company size, funding rounds, and hiring activity, ZoomInfo gave us a full picture.

  • The contact info was reliable, and we liked that it covered both emails and phone numbers.

  • It integrated well with Salesforce, and alerts were easy to set up.

⚠️ What Didn’t:

  • The platform was heavy. There were too many tools and features we didn’t need.

  • It felt built for big teams, pricing, and setup were overkill for a 3-person sales team like ours.

  • Outreach still needed other tools, like Outreach or Salesloft, to actually contact leads.

ZoomInfo Best For:

Mid-market or enterprise sales teams that want a full data platform, not just job change alerts, but also intent data, tech tracking, and firmographics.

ZoomInfo vs UserGems:

Feature ZoomInfo UserGems
Job Change Alerts Yes, with other company signals Yes, focused on champions
Data Coverage Very broad — company, intent, signals Focused on lead/job changes
CRM Integration Salesforce, HubSpot, others Mostly Salesforce
Outreach Setup Needs external tools Needs Zapier/Salesloft integration
Ease of Use Complex for small teams Simpler UI and setup

ZoomInfo Pricing:

ZoomInfo is expensive. Plans often start at several thousand dollars per year, and you need to talk to sales to get exact pricing.

Bottom line: If you’re only looking to track warm leads who changed jobs, ZoomInfo might be too much.

But if you want one platform that gives you job changes + deep data + company signals, and you’ve got budget, it’s worth looking at.

6. LeadIQ

LeadIQ homepage
This image shows the LeadIQ homepage

LeadIQ is a prospecting tool that helps you find contact info, track job changes, and send leads to your CRM.

We tested it as a UserGems alternative to see if it could help us act on warm leads who recently changed jobs.

✅ What Worked:

  • We got alerts when leads changed jobs, and it was easy to see where they moved.

  • Email and phone number quality was solid, especially for U.S. leads.

  • It synced well with HubSpot and Outreach, so we didn’t need to do manual updates.

⚠️ What Didn’t

  • It doesn’t do much after the alert. You’ll still need to build your own follow-up process.

  • Some job change signals felt basic, and there weren’t many ways to filter or prioritize them.

LeadIQ Best For:

  • Sales reps who want to quickly grab contact info, track job moves, and push leads into their CRM.
  • Good if you're already using Outreach or Salesloft and just need job change signals, not full automation.

LeadIQ vs UserGems:

Feature LeadIQ UserGems
Job Change Alerts Yes, basic Yes, more focused on champions
Outreach Triggers Needs extra setup Needs extra setup
CRM Integration HubSpot, Salesforce, Outreach Mostly Salesforce
Data Accuracy Good U.S. coverage Good for past users in CRM
Ideal Fit Individual reps or small teams Salesforce-led sales orgs

LeadIQ Pricing:

Starts at $45/month per user. Free plan available, but limited to 50 verified emails/month.

To get phone numbers and more data, you’ll need a paid plan.

Bottom line: LeadIQ is simple and easy to use. If all you need is job change alerts and verified contact info, it gets the job done.

But it won’t replace UserGems if you want full workflows or deeper contact tracking.

7. 6sense

6sense homepage
This image shows the 6sense homepage

6sense is a big sales and marketing platform. It helps you spot companies that might buy from you soon, based on things like job changes, web visits, and buying signals.

We tested it to see if it could replace UserGems for tracking job changes and helping sales teams act on them.

✅ What Worked:

  • Job change alerts showed up clearly inside the platform. We could see when someone moved jobs and which company they joined.

  • Intent signals were strong, 6sense told us which companies were actively researching our product category.

  • Salesforce and HubSpot integrations were smooth. No manual effort to sync leads.

⚠️ What Didn’t Work

  • Too many features for our use case. We just wanted job tracking + lead activation, but 6sense has a lot more, which made it harder to learn.

  • Pricing is high. It's built for big teams, and not really cost-friendly for small sales orgs.

6sense Best For:

Large sales and marketing teams doing account-based marketing (ABM) who want job changes, buying signals, and predictive analytics all in one platform.

⚔️ 6sense vs UserGems:

Feature 6sense UserGems
Job Change Tracking ✅ Yes ✅ Yes
Buying Intent Signals ✅ Strong ❌ Not available
CRM Integration ✅ Salesforce, HubSpot ⚠️ Mostly Salesforce
Outreach Automation ⚠️ Needs setup ⚠️ Needs Zapier or other tools
Learning Curve High – many features Lower – focused only on tracking
Best For Big ABM or RevOps teams Mid-sized Salesforce teams

Bottom line: 6sense is powerful. But if you're just trying to track job changes and reach out to warm leads, like UserGems does, it might feel like overkill.

Great for enterprise teams, not ideal for small teams or simple use cases.

30 Days. 7 Tools. Here’s What the Data Told Us

We didn’t just look at features.

Over 30 days, we tracked what actually worked across all 7 User Gems competitors, using real job change alerts, real outreach steps, and real CRM syncs.

These numbers aren’t guesses. They’re based on:

  • What we saw in real use across ~500 job change leads

  • How long did each tool take to send alerts

  • How much effort does it take to act on those alerts

  • And how many steps were needed to go from signal → email

Here’s a simple breakdown of what we learned.

I. Job Change Alert Speed

Tool Avg. Time to Alert
Leadsforge ~1 day – real-time in most cases
UserGems ~1.5 days – reliable but slower
Clay ~2 days – depends on setup logic
Champify ~1–2 days – good inside Salesforce
ZoomInfo ~2–3 days – mixed with other signals
LeadIQ ~1–2 days
6sense ~2–3 days – not the main focus

II. Steps to Launch Outreach After Alert

Tool Steps Needed
Leadsforge 1 step – built-in outreach flow
UserGems 2–3 steps – needs CRM + email setup
Clay 3–4 steps – requires logic + integrations
Champify Salesforce workflow setup
ZoomInfo Needs Salesloft / Outreach integration
LeadIQ manual or 2-step with CRM tools
6sense Needs full ABM setup and team support

III. Setup Time (From Signup to First Alert)

Tool Time to Get Started
Leadsforge ~15 minutes – no dev needed
Clay ~1 hour – if you know workflows
UserGems Needs Salesforce setup + admin support
Champify SFDC only – needs help to install properly
LeadIQ ~30 minutes – simple onboarding
ZoomInfo 1–2 weeks – sales calls + onboarding
6sense 2–3 weeks – custom onboarding process

Here’s What We Learned:

  • Fastest and simplest: Leadsforge (for direct outreach)

  • Most flexible: Clay (if you need control)

  • Best for Salesforce users: Champify

  • Too heavy for small teams: ZoomInfo and 6sense

  • Good for daily prospecting: LeadIQ

If you’re mainly looking to replace UserGems for tracking job changes and launching outreach, tools like Leadsforge, Clay, or Champify may get you there faster, depending on your setup.

What We’d Recommend Based on Team Type

After using all 7 tools for 30 days, we realized one thing: what works best really depends on your team setup.

Some tools are perfect for lean sales teams that just want to move fast. Others are made for larger orgs that care about deep data, ABM signals, or tight Salesforce workflows.

So instead of naming one “winner,” here’s what we’d recommend based on the type of team you’re running:

If You Are… Go With… Why
Startup or Small Team Leadsforge Quick setup, job alerts + outreach in one place
SDR Team with Workflows Clay Full control over logic, data, and automations
Salesforce CS Team Champify Built for Salesforce users, great for expansion
EU-Based or Regulated Cognism GDPR-compliant, clean enrichment data
Big ABM Setup 6sense Strong intent data and account-level targeting
Need Prospecting + Alerts LeadIQ Easy to use, Chrome-based, good CRM sync
Enterprise Sales Ops Team ZoomInfo Rich signals, intent data, and integrations

Each tool fits a different kind of team.

But even after testing alternatives, UserGems still wins at:

  • Champion tracking at scale inside Salesforce

  • Clean interface and reliable alerts for CS-led sales

  • Strong onboarding and support (based on G2 feedback)

Pick the one that matches your workflow, not just the biggest name.

Final Verdict: Do You Still Need UserGems in 2025?

UserGems built the category, no doubt about it.

If you’re on Salesforce and just need job tracking, it still works well.

But after testing 7 real alternatives, we found that:

  • You can get alerts faster

  • You can launch outreach without extra tools

  • You don’t need to pay for features you won’t use

Most teams today need more than just job change data; they need activation.

And that’s where newer tools are catching up, or even doing it better.

For us, Leadsforge was the standout. It handled the entire flow, from job change to first email, without needing Salesforce or extra platforms.

👉 If you're looking for a modern UserGems alternative that fits leaner teams and faster workflows, Leadsforge is the one we’d recommend.
